About Mrs. Giacomazza
My passion is learning and teaching students how to learn while engaging and challenging them on a daily basis. My background in education is diverse and a long one which included 10 years as a Business and Information Technology Educator. Before coming to Montecito, I worked side-by-side with elementary and secondary teachers implementing technology to support student learning as a Program Consultant in Learning Technologies. I’ve been involved is various district based literacy initiatives where I’ve seen first hand how technology can make a difference in a child’s learning experience. As I transitioned back to the classroom, I also attended a Smart Learning Conference which focused on Reading and Responding to develop high level thinking and vocabulary. I implemented this with many of my classes and saw incredible gains not only in oral language development, but vocabulary and writing. This past year at Inman, I introduced the concept of reflection and personal writing through ePortfolio development. As this venue provides an excellent alignment to the BC Ministry re-design curriculum expectations, students will be using it throughout the year. Please read more for your role under ePortfolios.
On a personal level, my students quickly learn my passion for science fiction such as Dr. Who, Star Trek – the original, and X-Files. Sometimes on rainy days, I may be introducing them to Dr. Who. Please let me know if this is a concern.
I am excited to share my experiences in education with both you and your child. I look forward to meeting and/or seeing you again throughout the school year. Thank you.
