Module One Post Ten (Physics.org)

Physics.org

This website reports the latest discoveries in physics. There are tons of information about different subjects in physics. In the explore tag there is a search bar where they provide a lot of different websites on the topics you search up. The websites are rated so you know if they are useful. There are a lot of intriguing topics, such as things that we wonder about everyday. There are many articles, videos and experiments. It covers a huge amount of information needed for my project.

Module One Post Nine (Mathematics in Chemistry)

Mathematics and chemistry

This brief page explains how mathematics is essential in chemistry. In chemistry mathematics is necessary to calculate concepts. This page provides a lot of links on exactly what mathematics skill you need to know for chemistry. The links show that scientific equations are used in chemistry. The website is from a university, so the information is reliable.

Module one post ten

This website is just like my other one but instead it talks about 2 stroke dirt bikes. This website is very handy when you want to know exactly how a 2 stroke works it tells you all the parts and how they work. For example a crankshaft is a part which is able to convert the reciprocating motion to rotational motion. This website also tells you how a 2 stroke dirt bike has a much bigger exhaust pipe than a 4 stroke. I think this will help me by learning how each dirt bike engine works and will come in super handy farther in the project.

Module one post nine

This website specifically talks about 4 stroke dirt bike engines and how they work. This website tells me how far back 4 stroke engines went, which was 10 years. Before that it was just 2 stroke and nothing else. This website also talks about how 4 stroke dirt bike engines last longer in many ways. For example 4 stroke dirt bikes don’t rev as high as two strokes which stop many thing like the chain. When a 2 stroke is running there is a better chance of it breaking because it revs so high which makes the motor super hot, which could burn off the chain. I think this website will help me learn about specifically 4 stroke dirt bikes and will come in handy when I am researching or testing a 4 stroke.

Module seven post eight

This website tells you the different’s in oil you need to fill with a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke dirt bike. It turns out you need to fill a 4 stroke dirt bike more than a 2 stroke because the motor is not as strong and big as a 4 stroke. This website also tells me how much and frequent you have to fill a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke. I think this will help me if I test how long each dirt bike will last with a full oil tank on both motors.

Module One post six

This website tells me all the things I need to know about dirt bikes from all its types of motors to why the dirt bike is shaped so strait and thin. this website is also super helpful with all the dirt bikes I need to study for this project it has a Honda XR 100 and it shows many different motors and there specifications all the way down from 1990.I think this website can help me see how big motors have changed since back then. This is why this website would be a great way to help me choose what I’m going to do for my project.

Module One Post ten (Hockey math)

Cite used: http://spinnakers.org/mathonice.htm

In this cite it displays many key examples of how math is implied in the game of hockey. For instance, if you are shorthanded the fraction would be 5/4, meaning the opposing team has five and you have four. A great demonstration of fractions which is used practically every game. Another example is when angling someone to the outside of the boards. You want to cut them off from an angle so that they run out of space, this is a key aspect for defensemen like me. We are told and use this strategy on all times when the opposing team is rushing in. Lastly, the triangle, this shape is commonly used as a direction of offence, players (forwards) will shape up in this formation in the offensive zone creating good passing lanes. In all i found this extremely useful, as it is filled with a lot of information and examples. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Module One Post nine (Ice skating)

Cite used: https://www.real-world-physics-problems.com/physics-of-ice-skating.html

This website goes over an important aspect of the game of hockey, skating. In this website it reviews the two motions of the skate a push from the edge and then a glide. Not only that but doing movement on ice is near friction less therefore top speeds of over 40 kilometers can be reached with quite ease. In addition it goes over the relationship between force and speed. Similar to running one foot pushes and one foot glides, therefore having a good balance and a straight line of direction. In my opinion, this website has very good and relatable information. It easy to understand, and will be definitely used in my research.

Post eight Module One (Flex of stick)

Cite used: https://www.hockeystickman.com/blogs/hockey-stick-alerts/40761601-the-truth-about-hockey-stick-flex

One of the most controversial discussions in hockey, when cutting a hockey stick shorter does it really affect the flex? After viewing this site, I have a fuller understanding of this question. For example longer the stick= more leverage, therefore easier to flex. Although smaller the stick harder it is to flex because closer the hands are. This site will be extremely helpful as it demonstrates the physics of weight transfer from body to stick. It also is extremely informative and extremely relatable, definitely recommend to others!
