Week of June 1st – 5th

Hi Division 5!

Did you get your Zoom invitations?  This week, Ms. Short will be hosting math and science zoom lessons. Here’s a message from Ms. Short:

Hello,
My name is Allie Short and I am a student teacher in your child’s class. Until now, Ms. Yapp has been sending out Zoom Invitations for lessons that I have been hosting or facilitating. Since Ms. Yapp will be returning to the classroom next week, I will be taking on a larger role in hosting these lessons and corresponding with families about any technical difficulties or issues with the Zoom Links.
You can reach me at this email address: allie.short@burnabyschools.ca

I will be returning back to school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Please email me at Shirley.cheung@burnabyschools.ca if you want to arrange a time to pick up your items during these days.

In addition, this week, we will have a class meeting on Zoom on Wednesday at 11am.

Families, for the next two weeks, I will begin composing your child’s final reports for the year.  As part of the reporting process, please ensure your child completes their core competency reflection.  This assignment is due on Monday, June 8th, 2020. More details in writing page.

Also, keep practicing your data analysis skills!  See the links below.

The games below are from Education.com.  You do not need an account.  When you click on the game, you will be asked if you’re a student/parent/teacher.

  • Select: Myself, I’m a student and enter a date of birth. The site wants to confirm you are a child accessing the game.
  • You won’t need to sign in/up, or enter your name.
  • Click play, and then you can practice some data analysis skills

    • Art: This week, Ms. Short found some ideas to create Father Day’s cards.  Check it out!
  •  To  show your work, you will need to post it on your BlogFolio.  If you are posting photos or videos, it is best to use your portable devices (smartphones, tablets, or iPads).  If you forgot how to post, you can check out these instructions. I will check your posts regularly and comment on them.  If you need more help with how to post or log on to the programs, ask your family to email me at Shirley.cheung@burnabyschools.ca

Happy Learning!

Ms. Yapp
