Dear Parents,

Today, we started off our day with the kids continuing to work on the answers to the riddles. I will give the answers tomorrow 🙂 (the kids are so clever with coming up with the answers – it always amazes me!). Then, I handed back the Math Tests and took up answers to difficult questions. We talked about long division and calculating with decimals in our answers instead of just using remainders. After I reviewed this with the class, I offered students who were having trouble with this concept still to stay and I did more small group practice on the board by going through the long division with decimals step-by-step.

Students worked on:

Grade 4:  pages 111 #1-7, 9, 12

Grade 5: page 102 #1-11.

After that, students had Music and we went outside for DPA.

When we came in, students had time to work on their poetry books. These are due in full on Thursday, and we talked about what the finished product would look like.

After lunch, we worked on our first letter writing activity! I went through a mock letter with the students and we talked about some of the different elements. We are writing to our pen pals in Ms. Dittrich’s new class at her new school! I am so happy to be pen pals with her class, as it is also a Grade 4/5 class. We will be sending the letters to our pen pals when we are done and hope for speedy responses! It’s very cool because some of the students had her as a teacher last year!

Have a good night 🙂

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
