Hi Everyone,

Happy last day of November! Wow, the time has flown by!

Today, we started off with students having the option to complete some riddles with a small group of classmates as a soft start into our day. The riddles were pretty difficult and the kids seemed to have fun with it.

Then, we went over the new spelling words – they are energy and simple & compound machine-themed as those will be our new Science Units in December.

After that, I posted two games of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” that I created on Microsoft Teams for students to review a variety of Math questions related to our multiplication & division units. It has glitches unfortunately, and only lets the kids answer 7 of the questions 🙁

Then, we went outside for DPA.

We had an e-field trip after DPA, where students learned all about watersheds and water conservation on Zoom. It was great and very informative!

Then, I introduced two more types of poems today (our last two for this unit): shape poems and haikus. Students are expected to hand in their fully coloured, edited, and written poetry books on Thursday of this week for assessment.

After lunch, students had Class 5/6 of their Social Studies projects to work on and were told to check their plans and see if they were on track and determine whether they needed to take any work home, as tomorrow is their last in-class work period before the project is due next Monday.

At the very end, students worked on their two poems in their poetry books as continued from the lesson this morning.

Some important due dates communicated today:

-Poetry Book – due Thursday this week: December 3rd

-Grade 5 Social Studies: Natural Resources & Sustainability Project – due Monday, December 7th

-Math Test for Grade 4’s and 5’s – Wednesday, December 9th – I will be posting the Math diagnostics on Fresh Grade today. Please review with your child and identify the areas that they need to practice before the Unit Test.

-Spelling Test – Thursday, December 10th

Have a good night!

Ms. Wilks
