Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with reading and then went right into the Math Test. I  am in the process of marking them and they will be ready in the next few days or so.

After that, students went to Music and then we had indoor DPA because it was raining quite hard.

After DPA, I assigned the Grade 5’s to write down a list of products in their homes and then write what natural resources made up these products. Then, I worked with the Grade 4’s about talking about the Arctic/Tundra Biome and I read them a bit from a book I had on the topic. Then, I sent them back to their desks and they worked on one of their Unit projects, which is creating a foldable pamphlet with six boxes. Each box will have writing (in their own words) and pictures that represent their biome. The only homework for that from today is the Tundra box if they are not done. Then, I passed around some natural resource samples to the Grade 5’s and we talked briefly about their worksheet of relating natural resources to products.

After lunch, we did a poetry lesson. I read some poetry from a book that had poems matching some of the “Group of 7” landscape artwork. Then,  we talked about some of the vocabulary for poems – stanzas, lines, repetition, theme, mood, and meter. The students were given time to work on the questions that corresponded to an example poem.

After recess, we worked on our embroidery.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
