Hi everyone,
I am delighted to begin a 2 week study on a book called Taan’s Moon. This is a story
by Alison Gear based on one version of the Haida Moon Cycle. We will take 2 weeks to
look closely at the images, story and ideas of this gorgeous book. Our Literacy and Science activities will also look at learning about Bears in a mini-inquiry to connect to the character of Taan in the story too!
In Math, we will continue to look at specific addition strategies. Please remember, these strategies are foundational to our Math fluency and important as we grow as mathematicians. Daily practice of dice games, counting in your home are also important supplements at this time.
Special Materials for weaving this week:
- 4 sticks (or 4 chopsticks or straws to create a weaving loom)
- cotton string or twine
- craft glue (or hot glue gun)
- nature items for weaving (leaves, sticks, bark and flowers with long stems work well!)
