Library Presentation Thoughts

Our lovely librarian, Ms. Zimmerschied, gave us a wonderful presentation on Digital Presentation.

She spoke to us about a number of really important ideas to be aware of. We learned about ‘Digital Etiquette’ or ‘Netiquette’ which relates to having good manners and treating people with respect in an online platform. Sometimes, some people find it difficult to follow the rules because they do not see the person to whom they are speaking to face to face. Additionally, we learned that we need to take responsibility for what we put online and that acting with integrity is key.

In a response of roughly 8-12 sentences, explain what some of your thoughts were during this presentation. What are some of your own personal examples of ‘netiquette’ that you use? What are some types of ‘netiquette’ that you will try to use this year?

i thought about what should you do when you are online. Even though i don’t have a Facebook account or a Instagram or any other online place to chat with random people i still wanted to listen.i heard something that really got me thinking, Ms. Zimmershied said this will happen to everyone. That got me thinking. i don’t really know why people think teasing people is fun so they need to be taught a lesson. Overall i think Ms. Zimmershied is right about that even though it sounds ridiculous. Many other people i think will say the same but really i don’t know

If there was a machine in front of you,and there is another person on the other side of the machine, and you are playing a game. If you can co-operate(put in a coin, the other person gets three coins) or cheat( trick the opponent and don’t put in a coin),and this game is the trust game.

I thought the presentation was really good and thorough on how the internet is dangerous. But I was a bit surprised she did not mention any of the internet scams. Although Ms. Zimmerschied is right, the internet is dangerous and can impact the real world. She talked about flamewars and trolls and how they might frustrate you, which, in my opinion, is one of the most important information, besides NOT revealing your personal info. I mean, really, HEY I GO TO SOMETHING SCHOOL! Who would want to know that(Apart from stalkers)? I think this should be the common sense, at least at my age, which is ***. In my eyes, the internet is probably here to stay, so we better master it. Adults count too, you know. There are creeps (and trolls) everywhere. It is really important that you learn netiquette, like respecting another opinion (no flamewar please) . There are a lot of negative people on the internet, take it from me, I pretty much live there, do not let them take you down! The presentation showed that too. The presentation covered almost everything we need to know about netiquette and safety, and I liked it. Those are my thoughts anyway.

It was nice of Ms. Zimmerschied to remind us of ‘netiquette’ so we can learn about being safe online. If she didn’t tell us about that, we would have been chatting with strangers online by now. I totally agree with her about being safe online, so we wouldn’t be kidnapped or whatsoever. She also told us how to be safe from bullying and how NOT to bully other people online. Overall, I think Ms. Zimerschied is right even that sounds ridiculous. I loved her presentation. I actually do. She made a very good point.

I do not really have to be scared about the internet because my parents do not let me like or subscribe videos. Or post videos on YouTube or pictures on instagram or Facebook. But if I could post a comment on a YouTube video it would be nice depending on the video. Or if I could post a YouTube video and I got trolled I would just ignore him. I have seen people getting trolled and they replied angrily. So I am actually happy I am not allowed to do all those things.

I think Ms. Zimmerschied was very nice to teach us of netiquette I think it will help us alot about people trolling us so i guess it helps us but i already knew about this cause i was already taught about this in school since grade 3 so…….. but it was a little bit helpful i guess?

I think that Ms. Zimmerschied is right about the online safety thing. I really thought from the beginning that people weren’t going to follow the rules. I think it was overall quite useful just in case, but I wonder if anybody is going to hack onto this blog. But I really thought that the flamewars and troll part was quite interesting. I wonder people like to troll its not very nice, so they shouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t troll if I were them. Have you been trolled? Respond in comments. Have you ever caused a flamewar before?
    Bye.

Well first, I don’t have a phone, so do E mails. Second, I don’t like to hurt people feelings. Posting some ones secret is very rude to that person, it could brake that persons heart, too. If you have that thought , just think that if some one else post something about you that you don’t want to share it to anybody else, what feeling will you have. If you’re already been hurt, just don’t pass that feeling to the person who hurt you. Because you don’t want more people to be hurt just because of you. And if you had a new friend on web, you need to tell your parents about it. It is okay that they don’t let you talk to the “new friend”, because they’re worried about your safety. But if you still don’t want to tell your parents about your “new friend”, then don’t ever go out with your “new friend”. It might be very not safe. just remember, don’t ever post some ones secret and don’t ever go out with a secret friend that you don’t even met before.

  10. eunbin2 says:

why is it always a presentation about those internet safety things? i agree with the librarian but still i post some rude things or hack very rarely, well i`m stll trying to not post crapy stuf and hack anything.

  11. bosco3 says:

I think ms zimmerschied is right about the online safety stuff because people could do bad stuff
to you and also post embarrassing things about you too. Other people in the world could find you or hack into your account and mess it up. You should also ask your friend before posting something
of your friend. keep being your self.
    Please respond back to me.

    BYE BYE!

I think it was a good idea that Ms.Zimmerschied told us about online safety. Because when we grow up we might get caught in dangerous situation. For example if someone keeps on sending you mean notes or is trying to get you angry, the best way to stop it is to ignore the person. Cause then the person will realise you don’t get mad so easily. Then you should quickly tell an adult because that person might need help really badly. And if you don’t do that when they grow up they might do something even worse and get arrested. ‘good netiquette’ is not telling people your password and having a strong password. If your nice and post positive things on the internet you wont get a lot of rude things,But if you post all rude things say mean comments you will probably get a lot of horrible comments.Another good thing for your safety is making your parents see your account and letting them see who you talk to and sharing your password with them. I hope my information and Ms.Zimmerschieds information was helpful for you.

internet safety; how to be safe, being safe on the internet is priority . First, look at the top of the website see if it is secured then you can give it your address. though there are still hackers so be careful also put your account on private when make an account. When you do make an account make sure your parents approve, and only follow people and accept people you know you can even ask just to make sure. When you post a picture double check it before you post it, when you say something make sure it is appropriate cause some people can screen shot it and send it to someone else.

  14. the internet says:

Some people are not thinking and accidentally go on inappropriate sites. The internet is like going outside there are scam web as well as gangsters and liars and there are are helpful webs like info and outside there are people that are willing to help. I’m glad that Mrs zimmershied brought this subject up because the internet is a big place with endless? possibilities both good and bad but she tought us how to avoid other ‘bad’ webs. people fighting over things in the wed can go up very strong and can lead to suicide and homicides. people also have wasted their lives on the internet. but still its not that you cant go on the internet.

  15. marcus31 says:

me and some friends are making a group chat. but I had some minor problems. 1. i was worried about inviting somebody but then they would say rude things to people.2.there might be people hacking and i wouldn’t know how to kick them out and i wouldn’t be able to because they glitched the group chat.
but when ms. Zimmershied did the online presentation i was completely relived. it answered all of my questions! all the thing i was worried about were finally relived. thank you to ms Zimmershied for doing this presentation, i now feel safe doing online things.

  16. michael49 says:

I think Ms Zimmerschied is right about the internet, you could post anything and no one can stop you
once you press the post thing its out on the public its out. And like myself, i enjoy the internet because of YouTube, Roblox and many more. I think the internet is awesome if you use it right. if you use it wrong its not as fun. to the people who fell for any kind of trick or trap, not the people who set it up.so yeah.

  17. rohan7 says:

i think that what she said was a good idea because you can run in some really bad people online and they can really get you mad. And thanks to Ms. Zimmerschied I now know what to do when i come across a troll I now that i should just turn it off then come back to it (but dont talk to the troll).and thanks to Ms.Zimmerschied i know that if i see a scam i should not click on it i should just exit off of it. and i learned that if you click on the scam then you cant go back it will have all of your of your personalinfo and it wil have your credit card number and it will have everything on your credit card. and i also learned that if you come across a troll its not you its them.

  18. eunbin2 says:

I think it was a good idea to write and listen to the speech that the librarian was saying well of course that we should listen. so thats that but it was still normal for me though.

  19. sebby1 says:

I think its a good idea to follow online safety. I don’t think its a good idea to not follow online safety. I think so because it will lead to give out to much info about yourself.

  20. lyiam1 says:

so i already knew about this trolling and i have never been trolled before so I am pretty cautious on the internet so whenever a website needs to know my name i might put a fake user name so that the website cant tell any one my real name

  21. isabella16 says:

i think that Ms.Zimmerschied did a good presentation about internet safety it is true that people will try to start fights or flaming like why would they do that it is true that sometimes people will be Kidnapped because when they talk to strangers then the strangers will start saying ” want to meet up where do u live?” then when people give them the address when you meet up they will be an adult and they will try to kidnap kids that is why when you are online you have to be careful about online safety it is very important to know online safety because it could be very useful
