5 Young Girls Who Are Changing the World

5 Young Girls Who Are Changing the World

  1. Julia Bluhm

Eighth grader Julia Bluhm noticed something that a lot of people noticed in the past few years. That the girls featured in teen magazines are not only models, they’re photoshopped to the point where they’re beyond human perfection. But rather than simply complain about it, Julia stepped up and spoke out. She made an online petition to persuade the editors at Seventeen magazine to recognize that this practice leads to low self-esteem and eating disorders, and to only use real, unretouched models. And much to many people’s surprise it worked.

  1.  Malala Yousafzai

Though the unfair and unfortunate incident that Malala was shot in the head was in October 2012, Malala has still fights for the right to let girls, and everyone else, have and education. She now is the youngest person, and first girl, to win a Nobel prize and is pretty much what comes to mind when people sat “activist”.

  1.   Sarah Gale

Sarah Gale, a trilingual 16-year-old from Boca Raton, has been working to change the world for years ,(that’s right I said years), traveling to her mother’s home country of Colombia and working to improve the lives of teens living in poverty. Sarah has been named a co-chair of Girl Up, the UN Foundation campaign to promote the health, safety and education of women in developing countries and works hard to raise awareness, and money, to help young women around the world who not only need the help, but also have the trouble getting it.

  1. Capri Everitt

Capri who is an 11-year-old from Vancouver, Canada, did something wonderful after reading about orphaned and abandoned children around the world. Wanting to give these children some love Capri, who loves to sing, decided she would learn the national anthems of 80 different countries and then travel to each of those countries to sing to children in their native language. She says she chose anthems rather than famous pop songs because some children may not have access to music, but nearly everyone knows their national anthem. Not only did Capri do this amazing act`, but she also raised money for the communities she visited along the way.

  1. Aija Mayrock

Aija Mayrock is a 19-year-old girl who experienced bullying firsthand. Instead of letting her experiences break her down, she channeled her positive energy into writing and self-publishing The Survival Guide to Bullying, where she shares the strategies that helped her survive and thrive. Aija writes about how to handle bullying, cyberbullying, dealing with fear, personal safety, and ultimately creating the life that you dream of having. Aija is also an accomplished screenwriter. Her film Diego received a Silver Key from Scholastic’s Art and Writing Awards.

These girls are amazing people who are changing the world one step at a time.

Attribution

Do you thing giving attribution is important? From my point of view it is. Here’s why. Giving attribution is super important. It’s rude not to give credit to the person who made the picture (or video).  Even where you got your information is important. It’s like giving respect to the person. Saying that you respect that their information is their information. If you don’t give attribution then anybody can think that you took that picture or that’s your story or you recorded that video.

So in my opinion giving attribution is important.

Beedie Group Reflection

On Wednesday April 26 2017, we went to a construction site owned by the Beedie Group in Delta, BC. We saw a lot of construction workers making, and buliding this furniture warehouse for Leon’s Furniture store. We met this guy named Andrew he showed us everything we planed to see. They have unique way of making walls, they just make a template for the wall, on a flat surface then pour concrete on it, then they lift the hardened wall and place it where they want to. We also got to sit on an excavator’s crane and got to see and touch a sand truck’s wheel it was fun!!!! Then we went back to Burnaby, BC for some PIZZA!!! (Which is my favorite food!!) and some juice.

Anyways that was the best field trip I ever been to, I hope we go back some day.

Thanks For Reading my blog😎😎👍🏻😎😎

Beedie Group Field Trip Reflection

My class had a special opertunity to go to one of the Beedie Group’s construction sites. We got to see one of the buildings that was almost complete.

We learned that they had to make the floor of the building completly flat. If there was a spot on the floor that was off, the difference would only be the thickness of half a piece of paper! I also learned that they have to use a speicial sand procedure to wiegh and pack down the ground. They had to create the exact wieght of the building that they were going to build using the sand so that in the future the ground can hold up the building.

After we were finished going around the construction site we went to one of the Beedie Group’s office building’s and got free pizza! Overall I had a good time and learned more about construction.

Beedie Group Field Trip Reflection

On Apr.26 we went to visit the Beedie group in Delta and Burnaby. In Delta we saw the Beedie group working on buildings. It was a construction site. It was cool to see construction vehicles in action because I always see them but there not doing anything, of course there was nobody inside it. I learned some names of the vehicles such as an excavator, front loader and a steam roller. After we finished the tour around the construction site we went to the the office of the beedie group. They gave us pizza and juice! That is my reflection.

Sports: Baseball!!

Sports: Baseball

As you all know sports are a big trend in the world so I will talk about Baseball, but still name some others.

A flock of Blue Jays (7951977034)

There are a lot of sports in the world from Baseball, Hockey and Soccer, To Pie Eating Competitions, Cutting down trees (Though I don’t like concept of trees falling down), and Ostrich riding (What!!).

My favorite sport is Baseball which is complex in many ways, you have to Hit a ball with a heavy metal bat, wear a baseball glove, try to be a good player, and i guess many more! But you don’t have to be Really good you can just have fun. There is also a Hall Of Fame where famous players are honoured for having really good stats, or have been caring and nice to others and teaching others how to play, and many more.

Famous Players of all time: Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Cy Young,Robin Roberts (Only to name a few)
