From the Canadian Space Agency:

On , a spectacular and rare celestial event is set to unfold over Canada, the United States and Mexico – a total solar eclipse. As the Moon aligns perfectly between Earth and the Sun, temporary darkness will sweep across parts of the country, captivating countless spectators.

Egg Hunt!

Div. 12 went on a mini egg hunt! For some students, this was their first hunt!

Students were excited to discover either a sweet treat and/or a few coins inside their eggs to use toward their next shopping day. They added up their coins to record into their math mat notebooks.

Each student was tasked to find three eggs each… and the weather turned out to be the perfect backdrop! Hello to some springtime fun!

Primary Days of Music!

The sun was shining as we traveled the short distance to Kitchener Elementary for Primary Days of Music. We were the largest school there!

We gathered together with four other schools to sing songs together and to hear each school perform their own few songs. We had a delightful time.

A big thank you to Leven’s mom for accompanying us on this trip to help supervise. We are so grateful!

Skating!

We had a fun morning skating together!

We saw a lot of smiles, patience, resilience when falling, and helping hands to those new to skating. It was wonderful to see. We wish we could fit in one more skating session!

Thank you to all the parents who helped to drive, tie skates, fit helmets, snap photos, and supervise.

We appreciated ALL the help and flexibility today!

Grand Opening Day!

We had our official Grand Opening of our corner store with Mrs. Kimmie present to mark the occasion!

We were incredibly proud of our class today.

Our students (shop employees and customers) each contributed patience, calmness, kindness, and respect to make our Grand Opening day a success. They shared their favourite moments and what exactly made this special experience memorable for each of them.

Thank you to all the families who donated items for our store. Today was filled with happy customers and excited shop cashiers, clerks and security guards. We can’t wait for the next shopping day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We had a ton of fun today celebrating friendship in Div. 12!

We did some yummy math, played games, shared valentines, and read a story about the importance of having balance in your life.

A favourite game today was Cheerio Tower! Ask your child about it!

Thank you to the many students who brought in treats for their classmates and teachers! We overheard a lot of “Thank yous” this afternoon.

Div. 12 Travels the World!

For our latest round of Show and Share, students researched a country they would love to visit one day. We all learned some fun facts, discovered amazing landmarks, and enjoyed seeing fantastic photos that perked a lot of curiosity.

We continue to practice our listening and speaking skills when presenting to an audience- focusing on speaking loud and clear enough for others to hear, making eye contact, and being able to answer questions.

Time to start planning your next vacation!

Saying goodbye to a friend

Together with the members of last year’s Division 12 class, we gathered to share our favourite memories, say goodbye, and celebrate the life of our beloved class fish, Marve.
It was a beautiful moment, and we were proud and touched to see the loving words our students wrote to Marve. Some students wanted to read their letter aloud during the ceremony.
There were a lot of sad feelings shared, and a lot of thoughts expressing how he brought joy and a sense of calm to Division 12. They all agreed that having a class pet is something special.

Rest in heavenly peace, Marve. You will be missed.
