This Week in Division 16 (Dec. 11-15)

Hi Families,

Here are some notes and reminders for the week.

Literacy:

Last week, we finished learning all the letters in the alphabet and other sounds using Jolly Phonics. We love singing to the songs. You can play these songs at home and have your child show you the songs and actions to continue practicing their phonics skills.

I will send home the printing books, so that you can take a look, and you can also continue practicing printing at home if your child missed some pages when they were absent.

Last Family Reading Day before winter break! Come in to read with your child and other children for about 15 minutes or shorter if you have to leave earlier. 🙂

Looking ahead to next week (from the Morley email):

Mon. Dec 18th: MERRY MERRY MORLEY

Let’s get into the holiday spirit by dressing up in festive clothes. Your child can wear anything that makes them feel merry, such as hats, headbands, holiday sweaters, and more.

Tues. Dec 19th: PJ’S AND PANCAKES

Get ready for a cozy and delicious day on Dec 19th, where students can wear their favorite pajamas and enjoy yummy pancakes with their buddies. To make it better, Starbucks will be making tasty hot chocolate drinks for the students.

Wed. Dec 20th: JINGLE JOG

This is a fundraiser for the food bank. This event will be happening from 2 pm- 3 pm in the gym. Music will be playing as students will be walking in a circle. When the music stops, a number will be selected, and the student standing on that number will win a cake for that round. If your child wants to participate in this event, please bring $2 for each round.
We will be sending more information with your child within the next few days regarding this event.

WINTER BREAK: 
The LAST day of school before winter break is Thursday, December 21. There is no school December 22 to January 6. Students come back to school on January 8.
