Life drawing with our Kindergarten artists

Drawing is an important entry into storytelling for our young learners. To better communicate meaning and details in their stories, our Kindergarten classes have been working on basic drawing skills. To represent people we use a combination of simple shapes and lines. Using lines, connected with dots help us to show movement because we can draw the body in different positions. It’s also a great opportunity to integrate some Science because we talk about joints, and how our bodies move! To practice this, artists often attend “Life Drawing” sessions where a model will hold a pose for several minutes while the artists capture their positions. This is what we explored this week in our Art Studio. Here are a few examples of our learning!
