Dear Parents,

I can’t believe how quickly this school year is flying by! It is almost March break, only 4 more school days for the kids. This morning, they started off with Music class. We had a new student arrive today from Edmonton, which was very exciting. After DPA & Snack, we had our Math Quiz. I have marked them and hope to put them up on Fresh Grade tonight. Many students did very well, which I was very happy about.

After lunch, I had the class read aloud the information on “Phases of the Moon” in their moon books and answer comprehension questions from the passage. After that, I assigned the students their project of creating an advertisement for a new product of their creation or a better version of a pre-existing product. They will make a rough copy, have me check it, and create a finalized good copy ad to apply the information they have been learning on making advertisements and analyzing pre-existing advertisements. We have been talking about strategies to use to persuade our audiences and using “juicy” and descriptive words to sell our products. Students will work for two more days on this before handing in their completed ad.

At the end of the day, students worked on their rugs.

Just a reminder that students need to come for 8:45 on Wednesday and meet in the classroom. We will be leaving not long after that, so please don’t be late. If you are late, students are to go to the office and the office will arrange for the student to go to a different classroom and they will miss out on the field trip.

We also have our spelling test on Thursday and students need to bring a grocery bag labeled with their name by Thursday to ensure that we can clean up our desks and hang our items on the shelves. We will be moving our desks out into the pod and we do not want things left in the desks so the janitors can clean our room. This can be sent any day up until preferably Thursday so students are ready to go for this desk clean-up.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
