Dear Parents,

Happy Friday & Last Day of January! 🙂

Today, we started off with Gym with Ms. D’s class – we played the game “Sharks” where you are trying to keep your basketball within the bounds of play while dribbling, by blocking while intercepting others’ balls to go beyond the boundaries so they are out. Then, we did some short games of basketball on teams of 5.

After Gym this morning, we traded colour by number long division pictures and students had to solve the long division questions in order to colour their peer’s picture correctly.

After Snack and inside DPA (wow, it was raining like crazy today!), we reviewed the different types of energy we learned about by doing a class mind map on the board and I introduced the idea of mechanical energy and how when we eat food, drink water, get sleep, and breathe air, we are able to do physical activity because we are provided energy from these sources.

After lunch, we did our Daily 5 literacy stations and then went over to our buddy class to plan to build straw bridges. Students created their sketch for their bridge and we will build and test which one is the strongest next week.

At the end of the day, we had an assembly.

The only homework students have is their weekend journal due Monday morning: What would you do if you had a million/infinite dollars?

Have a great and hopefully dry weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
