Dear Parents,

Today, we started a new Math/Art project with tessellations. Tessellations are repeating patterns made with one shape, that repeat throughout the piece and fit together perfectly with no spaces in between. It’s really a cool art effect and if you look it up on Google you will find a lot of examples. We watched this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc4LGZwlcvs

We will continue to work on it next week. I thought it was a cool way for the students to extend their learning on patterning in a fun way 🙂

Then, we had snack and DPA and a music rehearsal. It was the first time I saw the Christmas concert rehearsal and I was so impressed by the kids! Wow!

After lunch, students worked on their medieval script performances. They had a lot of time to practice today and in previous weeks. They are presenting on Monday and are expected to be ready for it. Then, we went to buddies and they made candy cane reindeers with their little buddies.

At the end of the day, we had community time. Sorry, I completely blanked out today with me not being here yesterday, to give them a weekend journal.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
