Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our Math Minute and collecting weekend journals. We also took up any questions on the Math homework from Thursday as well. Then, we talked about Benchmark Fractions and how these are easy reference fractions. The main ones being 0, 1/2 and 1. I drew quite a few numbers lines to show students how we can map out eighths, sixths, fourths, and halves on a number line. We discussed how to name fractions that are closest or approximate to the various benchmarks as a start to comparing fractions. Students then worked on page 179 #1-5 and it is homework if not done.

After, we did a Blooket on fractions and then had a desk check, snack, and recess.

Following recess, we read more about Coast Salish life and highlighted the important parts from each section. Then, I asked the students a question about the reading.

After, we worked on our Optical Illusion artwork some more from the Youtube video. They are looking great!

After lunch, we did our Daily 5 stations, had indoor DPA, and then started our Frisbee unit in Gym. We talked about correct and incorrect form when playing Frisbee.

Reminder: Spelling Test on Thursday.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
