Dear Parents,
Today, we started off with reading more of James and the Giant Peach. Then, I started teaching students double by single digit multiplication. Students had a challenge that they could partake in if they wanted to. Their job was to try to solve the riddle that corresponded with the answers to the multiplication problems as quickly as they could. We talked about how we could check our answers as well with long division.
Then, students had snack and recess.
Following recess, we did a Science experiment that didn’t quite go as planned :\ But after students watched some Bill Nye on Matter and Volcanoes and then I showed them the actual experiment. It was to compare the movement of molecules in hot vs. cold water. We used food colouring and saw how quickly the food colouring mixed in in hot water and how slowly it did in cold water.
After lunch, we did our Literature Circle meetings and I previewed the Art project for tomorrow/later this week. Students are encouraged to bring permanent markers tomorrow if they have any. Then, students did their planners, cleaned up, had DPA, and went to Music.
Homework: Literature Circle #8 is on Thursday and Read 30 Minutes today.
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
