Dear Parents,
Today, we started off with our last spelling test of the school year! Congrats to the kids 🙂 After, students worked on the Show What You Know, Questions 1-4, but not 2 b or c. It is homework if they did not finish in class. Then, students went to music, had recess, and then ate snack.
After snack, students had time to work on their Trading Post Design Mini Project and then they handed this in at the end of the class for marking. After, we talked a bit about puberty. We talked about various changes that occur during puberty such as starting of the menstrual cycle, hair growth, voice changes, etc.
After lunch, we talked about inferencing and how to use text evidence or words to convey certain feelings without actually saying the feeling. We went through an example of how someone was nervous about a job interview, but it didn’t directly say they were nervous – there were just signs that he was very nervous and the students had to find these. Then, groups were given a feeling word and had to write descriptions for this feeling without actually using that feeling word.
At the end of the day, we made Marshmallow models of solids, liquids, and gases in groups to show how they are molecularly different. The students did a great job!
Have a good night!
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
