Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with collecting weekend journals, drawing our class plants and recording observations about their growth, and then students were assigned pages to read from their Daily 5 books. They are to read this selection independently today, before tomorrow as they each have a copy of the book.

Yellow Group: Pages 67-69 + Chapter 7

Orange Group: Chapter 10

Red Group: Pages 74-104

As well, I handed out the At-Home Reading Program sheet. Students are to read for 30 minutes per day and record their start time/number of pages immediately after reading and have a parent sign the row. On Thursday, I will check it for the week and assign class points.

Then, students had time to study in partners and practice for their Math Test tomorrow on Unit 5.

I did a desk check, students had snack and then recess.

Following recess, students got their new spelling words – we reviewed them and recorded them. Then, we watched a video about chameleons’ adaptations and filled out a worksheet on this. After, students watched a short bit of “Life in Colour” on Netflix to observe various animals’ adaptations, including camouflage. Then, students worked on their rugs for Art. They are starting to look quite beautiful and the kids are doing a great job with it.

After lunch, I did a book talk on some new books students can borrow and then students continued working on their introductions and rising action for the fictional story they are writing. Then, we did our planners, cleaned up the classroom, and then had DPA and Gym. For Gym, we started our tennis unit.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
