Dear Parents,
Today, we started off with finishing up the first page of our long division package by finishing question #9. Then, we talked about equivalent decimals and how 0.7 = 0.70 = 0.700 and how 0.07 is different from these other decimals. Students also practiced colouring in squares on a hundredths chart to model various decimals as well. We also talked about the meaning of each digit in various numbers in terms of the place value chart for hundreds, tens, ones, tenths, and hundredths. Then, students were assigned Unit 5 Lesson 11: Equivalent Decimals page 204 #1-7 to work on and it is homework if not completed in class today.
Then, students had snack and recess. Aftter recess, we did a review task card station activity where students went around with a chart and filled in the answers to the various task cards. We took this up as well. It was a good review before the moon phases quiz tomorrow. Then, students worked on their stop motion props and decorations.
Following lunch, I had students participate in a visualization exercise where I described two versions of scenes (of a castle) where one was very vividly described and the other was very basic. We then talked about how to get the reader to understand the mood of the scene and how to be specific so that the reader is captivated and able to visualize the place. Then, students worked on planning out their own setting sheet. The whole story planning booklet is due on Wednesday this week, so it is homework if students are not already done.
Then, we had DPA and Gym. In Gym, I assessed frisbee skills with students passing and receiving the frisbee with various partners.
Have a good night!
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
