Dear Parents,

 

Hope you had a great March break! Today, we started off with new table groups for the students and reviewed some classroom rules. I also collected and briefly looked at any extra work students did over the break – so glad to see a lot of students did some practice 🙂 I am still collecting report card envelopes, so if students could please return these signed as soon as possible, that would be great.

Then, we went over our new spelling words. The next spelling test is Thursday, April 7th. After, we did some Fraction review games online to refresh our learning so far in our Math unit and then we did a quick Blooket review on Fractions of a Set.

Then, students had snack and recess.

After recess, students finished off their snack and then we did a couple of readings and comprehension questions on extreme weather and myths about the sun. Students have a Moon and Tides Quiz on Tuesday, April 5th next week. They will be expected to be able to draw and label a tides diagram and identify/draw/label the moon phases. Their booklets will have all of the information they need to study for the test.

After lunch, we started our story-writing unit by reviewing elements of a story map. Then, students mapped out “The True Story of the Big Bad Wolf” on a story map in order to prepare for our story writing unit coming up in which they will write their own fictional stories.

Then, students had DPA, did their planners, cleaned up, and had Gym. In Gym, we played a few tag games and then did our Frisbee competition game again.
