Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with reading a bit of “The Invasion” as a class and then doing our Math Minute. Today, I gave students the chance to write their remaining time left of the 1:30 on their sheet to try and track if they are able to beat their time to continue to encourage their automaticity.

After, students worked on page 187 #1-4 in the textbook after I did a small review of the work we did yesterday in comparing fractions on different sizes of cut-out strips. It is homework if not finished in class today.

Then, students had snack and recess. Following recess, we talked all about the moon and their relation to tides. We read together and answered some questions from our moon books on the gravitational pull of the moon and how high and low tides are caused. We also talked about how the tide changes in from low to high or high to low in around 6 hours of time each day, so there are 2 of each tide every 24 hours.

After, Scott came in and led students in picking coping strategies to try and reflecting on strategies that they already use to regulate their mood when they are upset or sad.

Following lunch, we did our Daily 5 stations. Students earned their extra DPA for tomorrow – excellent work, class! They have been doing especially great in their behaviour in the past week and a half! Keep it up 🙂

At the end of the day, students wrote their planners, had DPA outside, and then had music.

Reminder: Persuasive Writing rough copy due on Thursday.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
