Dear Parents,

Today, we started with our Math Minute. Then, we did some review games for 24 hour time.

Some games the kids can practice at home:

After, students worked on Unit 4, Lesson 6: All Questions, which is due on Monday if students haven’t already finished this in class.

Coast Salish Art was due today, so students need to finish this by Monday if they are not done.

After recess, we wrote our Weekend Journal Outline. The prompt is: If you could move to another country with your family for a year, where would you move to? Give 3 reasons why and add detail. This is due Monday and students should be writing more than a page at this point in order to continue their writing elaboration.

Then, we started drafting out our Indigenous-based stories. Students chose either a moral or an origin story idea and mapped out an outline of their own story plan. This included the introduction, rising action, climax (big problem), falling action, and resolution. Students did a great job with this and I am excited to see their stories when they are done. We will be working on quotation usage as well in order for us to write our stories with correct punctuation and indenting.

After lunch, students wrote out their good copies of their 2032 self letters. We will be fully compiling the envelopes for this next week 🙂

Then, we did a “there, their, they’re” Blooket and a 24-hour time Blooket as a reward for students working on their writing with great focus, effort, and voice volume control.

After, we did planners, had community time, and then students cleaned up the classroom.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
