Dear Parents,

Today, we started with our new spelling words. They can be found on the spelling page of this blog. The next test will be next Thursday, February 3rd, 2022.

Then, I had students do a mixed multiplication and division Math Minute. After, I introduced a new Drama skit project to the class. In groups of 6, they will be acting out “The Real Story of the Three Little Pigs” without props or costumes. This will allow them to focus on memorizing their lines, using expression, and using their actions to convey the play.

After, they had snack and recess. Following recess, I used an interactive projector clock to model various times that included quarters and halves. We talked about the different ways to show a time:

e.g.

7:15 a.m.

seven fifteen

quarter past/after 7

The link to the interactive clock is here: https://www.roomrecess.com/Tools/InteractiveClock/play.html

Here is another one that might be helpful for at home practice: https://toytheater.com/clock/#

Then, we practiced using a ruler to draw times on the clock and write the various ways down. Students need to have a ruler – if you could please provide your child with a ruler if they have lost theirs or don’t have one, that will help them a lot this unit, since we are studying measurement.

After, Simon James told the students a story and they started carving the school totem a bit.

Following lunch, I had students practice your vs. you’re again, as I am still finding a lot of mistakes between these two. Then, we did our Daily 5 stations.

To end off the day, we did planners, cleaned up, had DPA, and then did some Badminton solo and partner drills.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
