Dear Parents,

Today, we started out with our Math Minute like always. Then, students each wrote a word problem for multiplication and division that we will be using for a Math scavenger hunt tomorrow 🙂 We also reviewed words and vocabulary in word problems that indicate to us whether we use multiplication or division to help us prepare for the test. Then, students worked on page 115 #1-7 in their textbooks. The work is due tomorrow if not done during school time. Reminder, the Math Test is on Tuesday next week for Unit 3.

Poetry books were due today, so if students (who are present at school) have not handed it in, they need to complete and bring it in to hand in tomorrow.

After, we had snack and recess. Following recess, students worked on their Turtle Island comics. They will have one more class to work on it with their partner and then it will be due to hand in.

Then, we had a discussion about Internet Safety & Healthy Video Game Usage. We brainstormed strategies to deal with a number of different dangerous situations that can happen on the internet. I really emphasized telling a parent if anything questionable or dangerous happens on the internet.

After lunch, we continued writing our letters addressed to me as a practice before we write our Buddy Letters and if not done, students need to do it for homework due tomorrow. Students who were finished practiced a Spelling Worksheet in order to study their Spelling Words for next week.

Then, we had DPA and watched some videos about Coast Salish Art. We started working on our Coast Salish Animal Art using the colours white, black, and red. Students chose an animal outline and used crescents, circles, and trigons to make some Coast Salish Art designs. They are looking great so far!

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
