Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our Math Minute and then we talked about some questions of the Math homework from last night that the students found difficult. After, students explored “Math Playground” and played some multiplication and division games on the iPads in order to practice in partners.

Following, we had snack and recess.

After recess, we read about “The Creation of Turtle Island” as our first lesson as part of our Indigenous Storytelling Unit. We talked about how stories are passed down through oral storytelling from elders to younger generations. Then, students were tasked with creating a comic to illustrate this story in partners.

Following lunch, we worked on making connections and focused on text-to-text connection making. We are trying to delve deeper in our connections still instead of making surface connections. We also reviewed more on text-to-self connections and making these deep connections as well.

At the very end of the day, we started our Typing Program in class. You can find it on the Typing Program page on this blog as well if students want to continue to practice at home.

Reminder: Finished Poetry book is due tomorrow! Students have had lots of notice about this throughout the week.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
