Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our second Simon James presentation. He talked to us about the importance of making sure we don’t engage in cultural appropriation and not re-creating others’ works to sell for profit. The students will be doing some carving for a school project in a month with him, which is very exciting!

Then, we did our Math Minute for division and multiplication and went over some announcements detailed at the end of this post.

After, we had snack, desk check, and then recess.

Following recess, students did some Grassland and Tropical Rainforest reading and crossword/word search activities. If the crossword and word search are not done, it is for homework.

Then, we did some more practice for Drama and students not acting did Tessellation Math Art.

After lunch, we learned about the form of poem known as the “Pyramid Poem” for its shape and also had time to finish up their Haikus. If the Haikus are not done, they are for homework.

Then, we had DPA, watched some of the Forest Biome episode of “Our Planet” on Netflix and then wrote planners and cleaned up.

Announcements:

Students are asked to bring a grocery bag (sturdy re-usable one) to put the content of their desk in as we will be hanging up their stuff in the cubby area so the custodian can move and clean around the desks easily. We will be doing this on Friday, but students are encouraged to bring these as soon as possible in order to not forget.

Group of 7 Artwork is due tomorrow. Students have been given a lot of time inside and outside of class time to work on this.

Tomorrow is Pajama and Pancake Day. Students are invited to wear their PJ’s!

Our Drama Skit is on Wednesday. I will be recording it and figuring out how to send it out to you so you can view our 2021 Christmas Drama skit 🙂 Not all of the students will be performing in it, as some wanted to do the props and craft side of the project instead – which was a great help as well. Actors are asked to bring their costume or wear their assigned colours for Wednesday.
