Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our multiplication and division Math Minute – today’s focus was the 7 times tables. Then, we had a quick lesson on arrays and how to write multiplication and division facts to correspond with the different arrays. Students then worked on pages 105-106 #1-8 and it is homework if not done.

Then, we tried out a really cool program called Blooket where students were able to play a “Battle Royale” version. I randomly put students in pairs on the ipads and then students were continuously paired with new pairs of students to face off to see who could answer the 9 times table questions the quickest. Last pair left won. It was really fun and the kids were really into it, which was great to see!

Students can also play Blooket solo at home (not sure if they need an account or not though.

The website is called: blooket.com – have your kids try it out. They can look up practice for their times tables as well as other fun quizzes.

After, students had snack and recess.

After recess, we read a bit of Animorphs and then we had buddies. Students made comics with their buddies.

Following lunch, I went over the instructions for the Weekend Journal with students. They are to write about whether they believe in aliens and give three reasons why or why not and explain. Before the journal entry, I had students go through their comments from me from their last journal and pick an area that they are going to work on in this journal. They had to think of a strategy to try and achieve their goal, whether it be capitalizing or looking up words in the dictionary to improve their spelling, etc. I’m hoping that students will remember to work on that goal in order to actively improve their writing. The students also need to complete the two checklists: How much help did you get on your journal and their Student Checklist. This is due on Monday.

Then, we worked on Drama for the actors, props, or students worked on their Math artwork. Actors are encouraged to

Simon James Presentation is at 9 a.m. on Monday – please have your child arrive on time to be respectful to the presenter.

We are going to have an Owls in the Gym Presentation on Wednesday next week after lunch 🙂

PJ and Pancakes Day is on Tuesday.

Report cards will go out on Wednesday.

Group of 7 Artwork is due on Tuesday.

We will be having a Christmas party next Friday (we will talk about it more next week).
