Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our Mad Minute practicing our 3 times tables. Then, we worked on coming up with related facts in order to connect multiplication and division.

e.g. 9 x 8 = 72 or 8 x 9 = 72 and 72 divided by 8 = 9 and 72 divided by 9 = 8. Students have a booklet to work on in order to continue to practice relating the two operations. As well, we talked about word problems and how we use division when we are sharing things equally. Math booklets are homework if not done.

Then, students had a bit of time to work on their group multiplication murals.

After snack and recess, we had our class meeting. We decided to make teamwork a main goal for our class as we had a difficult time in basketball the other day this week. Then, Ms. Varley came and took the kids for a walk to do some Drama skits outside.

However, the behaviour exhibited during Ms. Varley’s lesson was not appropriate. I had a serious discussion with the students as some students felt like others’ behaviour was unsafe, unfriendly, disrespectful, and unkind toward other students and toward the teacher. We discussed and then wrote apology notes to Ms. Varley. I am confident that the students will be able to work on their behaviour for next time and continue to work on treating all classmates and teachers with respect.

Then, we had a shortened DPA and ended the day with watching some of “Our Planet” on Fresh Water.

–There will be a Health Quiz on our nutrition unit on Wednesday, December 8th. Students need to study with their booklets that I handed back today.

-Group Murals are due on Monday (I currently have these though as they will get a bit more time tomorrow)
