Tuesday, November 30th

Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with reading a bit of our class novel, then doing our Math Minute and a Half. We started practicing our 3 times tables today in order to work up to automaticity slowly.

Then, students played Math checkers with multiplication. It is like normal checkers except there are multiplication equations on the tiles. When a game piece lands on a spot, the student has to answer the question correctly. If they do, they get the points to their total score and if they get it wrong, those points get deducted from their final score.

After, students were assigned mural division/multiplication sheets that will form together with their group to make a full mystery picture! These are from coloringsquared.com also in the links on the Math page of this blog. This group piece will be due on Monday of next week.

Following snack and indoor recess (watching Hotel Transylvania 2), students were divided into 2 groups of 13 in order to practice reading a Christmas script in unison. Then, I picked roles for students and they will start to act out their half of the play and making a skit as our first large project in Drama.

Then, Scott came in and did a lesson about the “Mood Meter,” where students are able to identify the zone and feelings that they have on different days.

After lunch, we worked on another apostrophe vs. plurals sheet (practice makes progress!) and then we read a piece of writing called “Money to Spend” and brainstormed connections we could make. We will continue writing these connections tomorrow.

Then, students got ready by doing their planners, cleaning up, and getting ready for Music.

We will be going to the book fair on Thursday, so if students want to bring money to purchase items, they can.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
