Dear Parents,
This morning, we started off with a Math pop quiz for Geometry. I am working on marking it, but you’ll notice that I am not going to be putting a numerical value on this one like I normally do. Instead, there will be a proficiency scale only and comment if significant concern is held for the student to study this subject area a lot more. I was finding that on this test, the numerical value did not always correspond with what I perceive is their proficiency and I don’t want them to get bogged down by numerical value for this pop quiz that doesn’t go toward their report card, but want them to use this to study for their final test this unit.
Then, we had snack and went outside for DPA. Students earned an extended DPA for today last week.
After, I assigned new spelling words for the test on Thursday, April 22nd. We talked about some various parts of plant and animal cells including various organelles.
Then, Grade 4s worked on their animal adaptations map which is due tomorrow if not done. Grade 5s worked with me to go through a digestive system simulator and talk about the process and label their models with the various organs and their roles. This is due tomorrow.
After lunch, we started preparing for student led conferences, which will happen at home this year at the end of April. More information on this to follow. Students are going to be choosing and sharing 5 pieces they are proud of with you.
At the very end of the day, we continued to work on our secret Art project.
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
