Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with reading a bit of Wonder and then Grade 5s worked on constructing the digestive system and Grade 4s worked on brainstorming and drawing different animal adaptations from an animal book and then sorting the adaptations.

Students also got the chance to use the microscope I borrowed from the resource centre to look at various plant and animal slides. It’s so cool! They are drawing their observations and describing what they see.

After, we had snack and students went to Music. Then, we had DPA and went to library.

After lunch, Ms. Fakih came in to do tissue paper art with the kids and at the end of the day, I talked about rules for dialogue and quotation marks. We went through some examples. Then, I emphasized to students that when they are writing their personal narratives, they need to write in the past tense. We practiced editing a story to be written in the past tense as a class. Then, we did a quiz on proper quotation mark usage.

Tomorrow, students will have their spelling test and literature circle #8.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
