Dear Parents,
Today, we started off with reading a bit of “Wonder” and then we started our Geometry unit in Math. For Grade 4’s, we talked about various 3D shapes and how to differentiate between vertices, edges, and faces. We also talked about sorting by various attributes (characteristics) such as shapes with at least one triangular face or have 6 faces, etc. For Grade 5’s, we talked about parallel and perpendicular lines/intersecting lines at a 90 degree angle or at a different degree. We discussed how we label lines of 2D shapes as well by using the letter label for each vertex. Students worked on:
Grade 4’s: pages 224-225 #1-5
Grade 5’s: pages 224-225 #1-4, 7
It is homework if not done.
After, students had snack and went to Music. After Music, we had DPA and then Mr. Anderson came in for a lesson.
Following lunch, we talked about appropriate lunchtime rules and then students met in their literature circle discussion groups. If they finished early, students started working on their next discussion circle work, which is due before class on Tuesday of next week.
At the very end of the day, we did a sheet to practice our grammar depending on whether the verb and noun are plural or singular to use proper grammar in our sentences. We also did a reading on internet safety and talked about not disclosing our personal information online.
If anyone has any (red or any other colour) plastic cups that they could donate for a special project, it would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
