Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with going through a presentation on information about the moon phases. Students filled in some blanks about the moon in order to learn more about its cycles and phases.

Then, I assigned textbook pages for the Grade 4s and 5s which is to be completed for homework if not finished at school.

After, we had a quick snack and then students went to Music. Then, we had DPA and then Mr. Anderson came in to do a lesson on the mood meter and identifying times where we felt different feelings.

After lunch, students did their literature circle roles and discussion and then finished off their summary of “Wonder” if they did not already finished it from last week. They also completed a self-reflection sheet on their readiness for the meeting today. Our next meeting is on Thursday, so students need to be ready for that.

At the very end of the day, we watched a video on how the moon affects the tides and we talked about and labelled a diagram with low and high tides. We went through a few pages of a tide booklet together and answered some questions about the different tides and cycles.

I told the students that they will have a quick quiz on moon phases and tides on Monday. Students are also reminded to look at the moon each night and the Grade 4 explorers presentation is on Thursday.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
