Dear Parents,

Today, we started off with our Math quiz on fractions and decimals. Then, students had snack and went outside for DPA. After, Grade 5s worked on their French projects. During this time, I worked with the Grade 4s more on explorers: we did a reading on Vikings, then wrote our own sagas! They were so funny and the students shared them with their peers after. Then, we learned a bit about Christopher Columbus and filled in a bio sheet and we put Columbus on trial and voted whether we thought he did had more of a positive or negative effect during his explorations.

After lunch, we learned about moon phases and students made moon phases from Oreos. They labelled and modelled each of the 8 phases and we also did a reading about the different moon phases, which they answered comprehension questions for. It was a lot of fun!

At the very end of the day, we read a bit of “Wonder” and worked on creating strong connections. If this sheet is not done in their literature circles package, it is for homework.

Just a reminder that the Grade 5 French Project is due on Monday.

Have a good night!

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
