Dear Parents,
Happy early Valentine’s Day & Happy Lunar New Year 🙂
I wish you and your families a wonderful triple holiday weekend! Just a reminder that Monday is Family Day and there is no school.
We started off with Math today – we did exploring thousandths for Grade 5s and comparing unit fractions for Grade 4’s. We talked about how to compare unit fractions e.g. 1/2 or 1/3 (where the numerator is 1) and how if there are more parts/denominator is larger with 1 as the numerator for both, the more parts, the smaller the fraction is overall. The Math homework is due on Tuesday if not done.
G5: Lesson 6 #3-13
G4: Lesson 7 #1-6
Then, they had snack, Music, DPA, and Gym. In Gym, we played more benchball and dodgeball.
After lunch, students continued to watch Home Alone 2, which we started during our Winter party. Thank you to everyone who brought Valentine’s for the class and candy. I handed it out while they were watching the movie. They had a great time!
Mrs. Chim came in at the end of the day and the kids finished watching the movie and then had Free Time and cleaned up.
A few pieces of work:
-Students’ persuasive writing good copy is due on Tuesday and to be handed in in the morning
-Students’ Indigenous Dot Artwork is due on Tuesday as well.
Have a lovely long weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
