Hi Everyone,
It was awesome to see all of the orange shirts today in remembrance of the tragic history of residential schools in Canada and in remembering how important reconciliation is.
Today, we started off with taking up the Math Test. Please see the video I have posted on each student’s Fresh Grade with verbal and written comments about areas that they need to work on for the final unit test and strengths they showed in this unit on the mid-unit assessment.
For Math, we played a little review game where students practiced solving for variables such as n and reviewing the other areas of algebra and patterning we have been covering such as filling in the missing numbers and completing t-charts.
After Math, the students had Music and then we went out for DPA.
When we came in for DPA, we had a class meeting where we shared what emotional zone we were in, gave positive shout-outs, talked about problems in the classroom, and brainstormed solutions to these problems.
After lunch, we had the catapult competition with two other Grade 4 classes, which was a lot of fun! The kids did great and I was proud of their work and innovation.
Finally, students worked on answering questions for a reading on the Kamagata Maru Incident that we read as a class yesterday and worked on their pop art if they finished early. If they are not done the reading questions they are for homework. As well, a reminder for the spelling test tomorrow! The students need to know both the definitions and the spelling of the word.
Have a lovely evening!
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
