Hi Everyone,

Today, we started by going over some of the Math homework for the Grade 4’s/5’s – I didn’t take up the entire homework, we just went over difficult questions that the students had trouble with.

Then, I went over recording patterns in t-charts and how the variable (n) fits into different algebraic equations (this is a difficult concept but I just wanted to introduce it for later). The students were tasked with creating their own picture patterns and number patterns for other students at their table to solve.

Then, the students had snack and went to Music.

After, the students went through some vocabulary for immigration and learning about the Chinese head tax and did a reading about this. This fits hand in hand with our unit on discrimination as well as Orange Shirt Day approaches.

After lunch, we took up the immigration worksheet. Then, we worked on our autobiographies and timelines. Today, we focused on writing down traits to describe ourselves and started on our picture timelines. We will be presenting these pieces for the class later.

At the end of the day, we did the Terry Fox run on the track (before the storm), enjoy the sunshine, get some exercise, and honour Terry Fox.

Just a reminder that there is early dismissal at 1:30-1:45 tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday for Parents as Partners meetings.

Sincerely,

Ms. Wilks
