Dear Parents,
Today, we did our drawings for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of us doing heart-healthy activities such as exercise, sports, and eating heart-healthy foods. Then, we continued to work on long division. I gave out a worksheet which is due tomorrow and we will take up tomorrow. A lot of the students are having difficulty with this topic, but we will continue to practice this throughout the rest of the week. Then, the students had music before lunch.
After lunch, students did silent reading and worked on their Turtle Island comic, which is due on Thursday. Then, we continued in our Daily 5 literacy station activities.
After recess, we worked on taking notes from our Social Studies textbook on Indigenous Food & Clothing made from various resources. I did a brief lesson on note taking about how when we read, we need to summarize and briefly describe what we have read in our own words. We can use point form notes as well as illustrations to help us as well. We discussed about how important it is to put information in our own words to avoid plagiarism. This is due tomorrow if it is not done.
We also have our spelling test on Thursday.
Sincerely,
Ms. Wilks
