Dear Parents,
Today, we started off our day with some basketball! We played a riveting game of dribble line tag, practiced chest passes and bounce passes, and practiced from free shooting with Ms. D’s class. Then, we had our shops open for business for Day 2 and we calculated up our totals and I announced the two winners later in the day. The students did a wonderful job and handed in their transaction records to document their purchases and sales and calculate the change as a final element of our money unit in Math. After DPA, we had a patterning assessment today where the students had to create growing and repeating patterns with various blocks.
After lunch, the students did their Daily 5 literacy stations and then Mr. Anderson came in and did a lesson on thinking about how our actions affect others in the classroom. It was a great lesson and he played the game “Should I, Shouldn’t I” with the kids where they were able to use numbers to assess how others would feel about a certain behaviour/action.
After recess, the kids had community time!
The energy project is due on Monday including the booklet and fully coloured 2-page comic strip. We are also fundraising for heart and stroke right now. Students also have a weekend journal: the prompt is: “Why is it important to conserve/save energy. What kinds of renewable resources can be used?” It should be 1/2 page to 3/4 of a page and handed in Monday morning. Last week, we had quite a number of students not complete the journal or forget it at home.
Have a great weekend!
