Grouse Mountain Field Trip

Last month the Grade 2s, 3s and 4s in Division 7, 8 & 9 traveled by school bus to Grouse Mountain for a day of adventure in the snow!!!

First, we walked through the winter wonderland of Grouse to have an interactive experience all about bears with bear artifacts, stories and we learned the similarities and differences between the 3 species of North American bears: the grizzly, black bear and polar bear!
Next, we stepped into an authentic Pacific Northwest Longhouse and had the privilege of having Kwel-a-a-nexw, Grouse’s Squamish First nations elder, take us back in time to discover the traditional way of life of our First Nations people.
After enjoying our lunches in the Grouse Mountain cafeteria, we had a guided snowshoe tour along the Light Walk trail before jumping back on the gondola and travelling down to our awaiting school bus back to school!

There were 230 students in a school and Speed Demons was coming up! 5 were sick. 4 went on vacation. 1 was really late. How many left over? ~ Crystal
There were 230 students. 5 fell. 5 more went to the washroom. How many students competing in Speed Demons? ~ Kaitlyn
There were 300 students running. 10 took a break. 10 went to the washroom. 20 got hurt. 20 students were being silly so they got kicked out. 20 students gave up. How many kids running for Speed Demons? ~ Shimer
There were 230 students competing in Speed Demons. 10 got really tired and dizzy. How many left over? ~ Mohamad
There were 320 students. 100 were not competing in Speed Demons. How many left over? ~ Omar
There were 223 students competing in Speed Demons. 3 students were not going to Speed Demons. How many left over? ~ Omar
There were 221 students competing in Speed Demons. 1 was lazy because he ate 5 hamburgers and 3 pizzas and 6 ice cream cones. How many competing? ~ Maya
There were 230 students competing in Speed Demons. 10 went to Disneyland. How many left over? ~ Maya

Speed Demons 2019

Nelson students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 participated in our annual Speed Demons competition this Thursday afternoon. Division 8 had lots of fun racing against other grade 3s and all did an awesome job! Click on the runner below to see everyone fly!
