St. Michaels Visit

On Monday morning, we visited Saint Michaels with Miss Gatenby’s grade 1s   & 2s for our last time this year and sang for the seniors.
I’m so proud of how everyone performed and were so respectful in a much different environment than you’re used to. Way to go grade 3s! I loved watching the seniors sing along with big smiles on their faces.
Thank you St. Michaels for spoiling us with snacks and goodie bags!

Gymnastics Fun!

June at Nelson always involves gymnastics equipment in our gym, but this year we are incredibly lucky to have a teacher come in and give us special instruction. I’ve already learned new moves to share with my classes for years to come and I hope everyone is having lots of fun!! What is your favourite circuit you’ve been on so far?! K is for KERNELS

 ~ KERNELS of popcorn!
We invited division 9 to come over to share some popcorn and good books.
We popped some popcorn in an old fashioned hot air popcorn popper, the one that Miss Watt used as a Grade 3 student herself! It was so cool to see it close up instead of waiting outside a microwave!

Sports Day is Coming…❄️

We met with our Grade 6 & 7 buddies this week to put together the Sports Day banners and tally the amount of banner squares each House Team created. Every square equals one point and every point counts on the big day! 3 more days!!

J is for JUMPY SCIENCE

Poppin_Rockets_0128 ~ JUMPY Poppin Rockets! Science with baking soda & vinegar!
We created a chemical reaction in a film canister! The vinegar reacts with the baking soda and produces carbon dioxide gas. Pressure builds up until the small canister can no longer contain the gas. The lid pops off, the canister shoots up into the air, the gas escapes, and the pressure is released.

H is for HATS and I is for ICKY SCIENCE

~ We took the opportunity today to shade ourselves from the sun, break school rules & wear our favourite HATS all day long!
~ ICKY messy fun with Oobleck! Science with cornstarch & water!

Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands.
Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck where a gooey green substance, Oobleck, fell from the sky and wreaked havoc in the kingdom.
