Spelling Begins Today!

Our first Spelling words of the year are our classmates names! It’s always great knowing how to spell our friends names, practice for Valentines etc., and Ms. Watt will be using them in our dictation sentences throughout the year. This paper comes home today and students will be tested on the names next Wednesday. Please click on the SPELLING tab above to find dozens of fun ways to practice your spelling words this week and all year long!

Starting next week we will have a Star of the Week in our classroom. They will create a poster to share with the class and take home Geoffrey the Giraffe for a week of fun.  I can’t wait to learn more about all of you and hear all about Geoffrey’s adventures!

Summer Reading Program

Who knew reading 15 minutes a night for 50 nights could lead to a medal!?
Kennedy and I had so much fun hanging out with Mrs. Roberts and her daughter Rachel at the Burnaby Public Library this morning.
I was so excited to see Lucas and Casandra there to receive their medals too!
Thank you so much to the Burnaby Public Library for the fun morning and the medal for doing what Kennedy and I love!

Reading in Secret Park

Nelson primary students ended their 1st week together by gathering at Secret Park and enjoying a good book or two together.

I hope everyone had fun getting back to school this week and learned lots about The Golden Key of Trust, Growth Mindset and how to manage stress in the various classrooms you visited.
I can’t wait to meet my new class next week and start our year together!
