There were 100 poppies. 65 fell. How many left? ~ Allen
There were 70 poppies but half died out. How many survived? ~ Malachi
There were 64 poppies in a poppy bush. 29 got taken out. How many are left? ~ Satvik
There were 400 poppies. 365 were handed out at an assembly. How many left? ~ Ms. Watt

The answer is 5 pieces of candy left over. 
There were 25 candies. 20 got eaten. How many left? ~ Allen
There are 50 candies. 45 were eaten. How many left? ~ Jon
The trick or treaters got 5 bags of candy. Each had 5 candies. His house had 5 people plus him. Everyone ate one except him. How much left? ~ Malachi

Poppy Fund Donations Nov. 3rd-10th
Every year, Nelson Elementary School collects donations to raise funds in support of Veterans and their families.
All students will receive a poppy after our assembly next Wednesday morning at 10:45. Thank you, your generous donations are so very much appreciated.

Happy Halloween!
I hope everyone had a tons of fun yesterday out and about with your family and friends!! On Saturday, we visited a local community centre and participated in lots of fun Halloween activities before going to our friends’ house to carve our pumpkins. On Sunday, Kennedy, Ava & I went to the house of Kennedy’s best friend, Frankie! We took some pictures and then went Trick or Treating around the spooky neighbourhood houses.

Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkin Patch Time!
Division 9 got an opportunity to pick the perfect pumpkin from our pumpkin patch on Wednesday. The sun was shining and there were so many perfect pumpkins to choose from. Thank you PAC for the perfect post-patch treats!!

Save the Turkeys!
Poor turkeys don’t want to be eaten on Thanksgiving, so Division 9 students were given the task of disguising their turkey! Using anything they could find around home, they dressed their turkeys so that they wouldn’t be found and put on the table for Thanksgiving dinner.

The turkeys are now safely hidden in our classroom. *whew!*
