It was all about team work today! Grade 3 boys & girls lined up on the alpine skis, grabbed on tight & tried to move as in-sync as they could!

We strapped on a pair of skis (complete with carpet bottoms) & instead of hitting the somewhat snowy mountains of Russia, we raced around Nelson’s gym!

Nelson Olympics Opening Ceremonies

The Nelson Olympics started on Friday with an opening ceremonies orchestrated by the one & only Mr. Gurniak. After parading in with our house teams we watched a slideshow of the adventures & activities of Nelson students during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The Nelson Olympic flag was raised, the torch was lit & all students recited the Olympic Oath.

Sports of the XXII Olympic Winter Games

Using pictograms to represent Olympic Games sports started with the London 1948 Games. This years were adapted from those used in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. These “patchwork” versions use a combination of 16 ornaments of the most famous national crafts in Russia.

Cowardly Lions ROAR!

Division 7 & 8’s Grade 3s, 4s & 5s rocked their Hip Hop dance on Friday!
Everyone performed with strength & fierceness & wowed the crowd of students, teachers & parents!

Hip Hop

Division 8 must wear lion inspired colours: yellows, tans, oranges, browns etc. or animal prints. Mess up your hair too!
I can’t wait to see the dance come together & all your grrrrrrrrrreat moves!
