Student Led Conferences
Next Wednesday April 16th, are Nelson’s annual Student Led Conferences. I cannot wait as it’s my favourite time of the year in our classroom. I love to see the pride and excitement the kids have when sharing their work with a loved one.
Please come visit our classroom between 2:10-4:00 and 5:00-6:00. The classroom will be closed for a dinner break from 4:00-5:00. You will be read to, presented work, shown around the classroom and asked to play a game. Please come ready to celebrate your child’s achievements.
This will be completely led by your child and not a time to discuss their progress. I would be happy to meet with you at another time to discuss their report card etc.
If possible, please do not bring any other children so the focus can be on the child sharing.
Thank you! Any questions? stephanie.watt@burnabyschools.ca

Last week, for the 41st year in a row, Nelson students participated in:
Participating in Jump Rope for Heart helps Nelson students learn the importance of physical activity, healthy eating and giving to others. It also teaches them how to recognize the signs of a stroke so that they may be able to help in a family members time of need.
We’ve been jumping with our friends in Ms Tsumori’s class and then jumped with our big buddies in the gymnasium on Friday.

Donate Now for Jump Rope for Heart!
On March 14th, the last day before Spring Break, we are jumping for our hearts!
We will be practicing our jumping during the next couple times a week for Jump Rope for Heart 2025! We’ll be skipping for a 60 minute block and participating in many skipping challenges with both our little and big buddies. Everyone’s been working hard on their skipping moves and I’m so excited for all the fun! PLEASE CLICK ON THE HEART PICTURE TO THE LEFT TO DONATE! Nelson has always been incredibly supportive of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and it’s grown in importance after losing our beloved custodian, Mr. Olsen, to a heart attack 5 years ago. Ms. Tsakalos has set our fundraising goal at $3,000. There will be reminders in our planners to wear runners and comfortable, cool clothing for our days of jumping! Don’t forget to bring your water bottle as well! Go Nelson Go!
Online donations will be open until just after Spring Break.
