Jump Rope 4 Heart 2016

On Friday, March 11th, for the 34th year in a row, Nelson students participated in:
Participating in Jump Rope for Heart helps Nelson students learn the importance of physical activity, healthy eating and giving to others.

We jumped with our buddies & friends from 10:30-12:00 in the gymnasium & competed in challenges given by Mr. Morrison.

Thank you to all the students who created questions to our Think Math answer this week:

40 green shamrocks ready for St.Patrick’s day but then someone named Phoebe came in & bought 5 shamrocks as decorations for St. Patrick’s Day. Then her friends Jasmine & India came to check things out. They bought 10 shamrocks all together. Then they bumped into Scarlett, Katie & Lauren who had each bought a shamrock for St.Patrick’s! How many shamrocks left in the store? ~ Casandra
There are 30 shamrocks given out for free. 2 people take 4 each. How many shamrocks left? ~ Julia
There were 24 shamrocks. 2 of them were picked up by a collecter. How many shamrocks left over? ~ Mia
There are 10 shamrocks already planted in the ground. Then 14 more get planted. Then Casandra found 2 shamrocks. How many shamrocks left? ~ Cayla
There are 48 shamrocks. Then Sahana found 48 lucky shamrocks! Then 74 shamrocks get lost because the wind blew them away!!!! But then Mrs. James found one & put it back in the shamrock pile! Then one flew on Julia’s doughnut! How many left over!?!?!!!! ~ Chloe
There are 29 shamrocks & 7 people take 7. How many left? ~ Bariki

There are 47 students at the bowling alley 1 person was late and also there was 2 adults how many people in all at the Old Orchard Bowling Alley? ~ Mia
There are fifty students five adults going bowling at old orchard. Two students get sick and three adults have to drive their kids to a birthday party. How many adults and students still going to old orchard bowling alley? ~ Julia
There are 40 people at the old orchard with 4 adults then 4 more people came 1 adult had to go to work and left than 1 adult had to go to the washroom just then 4 more people come to bowling! How many people bowling at the old orchard ? ~ Casandra
There were 3 adults bowling. 1 adult left because she thought that Miss Watt was responsible to take care of her class so she left 24 students bowling. 24 more got jealous so they joined them & they all had fun & all wanted to stay but they had to go home. ~ Vera
There are 22 students bowling at Old Orchard & no adults 🙁 Then Mrs. James joins in the fun & then Vera asks Mr Morrison’s class to join in. Then 22 students from Mr. Morrison’s class go bowling with their buddies. How many students & teachers bowling at Old Orchard? 🙂 ~ Chloe

Mrs. Candy & another teacher had to take care of 59 students. 4 of them had to go to the bathroom. 2 of them ran away. 5 of them stayed at school. How many left to go bowling? ~ Nedge

Mrs. James arrived 1st at the bowling ally. Mrs. James then counted how many students she had – 24 students. Then after 5 minutes Mr. Morrison’s class comes. They also had 24 kids & they were late because a lot of people were talking. How many adults & children came bowling? ~ Cayla

Nelsonites! Are you ready to be JUMPCREDIBLE?!

On Monday Nelson was treated to a motivating Jump Rope for Heart assembly. We were reminded how Nelson is the only school in British Columbia to have participated in all 33 years of Jump Rope for Heart & we’ve raised over $268,188!
This year we’ve set a school fundraising goal of $8000 & also set goals to beat the 18 online registrations from last year & the 170+ students who fundraised.
