Nelson students participated in our annual Terry Fox Run last Friday. 
After a late start to the year & only a few days of fundraising, bringing in Toonies for Terry & collecting pledges, we raised $1097 for the Terry Fox Foundation!! Incredible!! Our fundraising in the last couple years has been:
2011 ~ $502
2012 ~ $642
2013 ~ $1430.
We easily surpassed this year’s goal of $800! I’m so proud of all of your hard work!

G ~ 2 days full of GAMES! We celebrated with the run through of Primary Sports Day, learning 7 new GAMES as we went through all the stations, & then on Friday we had our annual SPORTS DAY!!
I had so much fun during my first year at the scorekeepers table with Mrs. Lentz & I hope you all had fun participating in all the stations & competing in the tug-of-wars too! Congratulations to RED HOUSE on their big Sports Day win!

Nelson students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 participated in our annual Speed Demons competition on Friday afternoon. Division 8 had lots of fun racing against other grade 3s & all did an awesome job! Click on the runner below to see everyone fly!

On Friday, March 14th, for the 32nd year in a row, Nelson students participated in:
Participating in Jump Rope for Heart helps Nelson students learn the importance of physical activity, healthy eating and giving to others.
We jumped with our buddies & friends from 1:15-2:45 in the gymnasium & competed in challenges given by Miss Cornell & Miss Tsakalos.

NELSON BIATHLON
Using our newly acquired cross country skiing skills, we raced around the gym & traded in Sochi Olympic biathlon guns for scoops & bean bags.

It was all about team work today! Grade 3 boys & girls lined up on the alpine skis, grabbed on tight & tried to move as in-sync as they could!

NELSON CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
We strapped on a pair of skis (complete with carpet bottoms) & instead of hitting the somewhat snowy mountains of Russia, we raced around Nelson’s gym!

The Nelson Olympics started on Friday with an opening ceremonies orchestrated by the one & only Mr. Gurniak. After parading in with our house teams we watched a slideshow of the adventures & activities of Nelson students during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The Nelson Olympic flag was raised, the torch was lit & all students recited the Olympic Oath.
