Terry Fox T-shirts!

Dear Nelson families,                            
As part of our fundraising for The Terry Fox Foundation, starting next week there is an opportunity for students and their family members to purchase Terry Fox t-shirts in order to have them to wear on our school run day on Friday, September 20th.
The design is shown above and is black with rainbow lettering.
Youth shirts are $15 and adult shirts are $20.
ADULT DRY-FIT OPTION IS SOLD OUT.

There is no shipping or tax and 75% of the price of every shirt sold benefits cancer research.

Sports Day is Coming…❄️

We met with our Grade 6 & 7 buddies this week to put together the Sports Day banners and tally the amount of banner squares each House Team created. Every square equals one point and every point counts on the big day! 3 more days!!

Sports Day Spirit Days

Sports Day is next Friday, June 7th! Each day students will have an opportunity to wear a house colour to earn points for their House Team. I can’t wait to see the sea of colours and feel the excitement of Sports Day grow during the week!

Speed Demons 2019

Nelson students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 participated in our annual Speed Demons competition this Thursday afternoon. Division 8 had lots of fun racing against other grade 3s and all did an awesome job! Click on the runner below to see everyone fly!sports_run

Terry Fox Total!!

Yay Nelson!! I have just received word of our grand total for our Terry Fox Run in September. A big thank you to our top fundraisers this year: Kelsey from Ms. Marino’s class, Rowan from Mrs. Heighton’s class, Tessa from Ms. Gatenby’s class and Dakota from Miss Tsakalos’ class!

Jump Rope 4 Heart 2019

On Friday, March 15th, for the 37th year in a row, Nelson students participated in:
Participating in Jump Rope for Heart helps Nelson students learn the importance of physical activity, healthy eating and giving to others.
We jumped with our buddies & friends from 11:00-12:00 in the gymnasium & competed in challenges given by Mr. Morrison.

Can’t Wait for the Jumping Fun!

Friday, March 15th is Jump Day!
We will be joining our big buddies in the gym on Friday at 11:00 to participate in Jump Rope for Heart 2019! We’ll be skipping for an hour and participating in many challenges along with Ms. Tsumori and Ms. Gatenby’s classes. Everyone’s been working hard on their skipping moves and I’m so excited for all the fun! Remember to keep collecting pledges and return your envelopes on the 1st day back after Spring Break! Remember to wear runners and comfortable, cool clothing for an hour of jumping! If you have RED, please wear it in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle as well! Go Nelson!

Indoor Track Meet Fun!

Nelson had it’s annual Intramural Track Meet on Friday & the students participated in relays showing off their running, balancing, throwing and agility skills while competing for house points.
Division 8 did an awesome job in all events & were great cheer leaders for their team mates! Click on the smileys to see us in action!!

Cross Country Intramurals 2018

Nelson students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 participated in our annual Cross Country competition.
Students ran around the whole block, ending with a sprint towards the finish line at our playground.
Division 8 had lots of fun racing for the 1st time against other grade 3s and all did an awesome job!
