Math About Me Posters

Our 1st math activity is creating a Math About Me poster. The purpose of this project is to make you aware of math and numbers and their importance in our everyday lives. Please be creative and have fun with this project. I have provided some examples of the types of information you may like to include. Posters should include 8 numeric references to yourself. They should be coloured and may also include pictures, stickers, colourful paper, etc.
All posters must include your name in the design.

What month, date and year were you born?
How old are you?
How many days old are you?  How many months old are you?
How old will you be in 10 years?
How many members are in your family?
How many animals do you have?
How many people live in your household?
What’s your favourite number?
I have __ letters in my first name. I have __ letters in my last name.
Letters in my first name + letters in my last name =
How tall are you in centimetres?
How many books do you own?
How many pages are in the book you are reading right now?
How much money is in your piggy bank?
How many months old were you when you learned to walk?
How long does it take you to get to Nelson each day?

Music Bingo

Mrs. Little has created a wonderful Musical Literacy Bingo Sheet for students at Nelson to complete over the next few weeks. It includes musical activities that can be done with or without a computer.

Spelling Words

Spelling restarts this week with a new list of words given at the beginning of each week. I will be providing the new list of words each Monday, but I will not be sending the rest of the booklet that we worked on in class. The SPELLING tab at the top of the page has dozens of fun ways to practice your spelling words. You may do some activities just on Mondays or do 1 or 2/day during the week, totally up to you! Parents are welcome to test their kids at the end of the week ( Spelling Test Paper), but I will not be collecting the results.

A-Z Yoga

One of your options for D.P.A. (Daily Physical Activity) over the next couple months will be Yoga/Stretch & Strength!
There are 26 different poses, from A is for Airplane to Z is for Zebra. When choosing this activity, pick a handful of poses at a time to practice by yourself or with a family member and start to feel more flexible, stronger, more coordinated and more aware of your body!

🌈 Spreading Hope ~ We Will Be Okay 🌈

Rainbows can motivate us to continue and endure through dark times.
Rainbows bring the promise that the troubles of today will surely come to pass.

Families all over the world are adding a little colour to their days by painting or colouring rainbows of hope and placing them on their front windows.
Using paint, crayons, balloons, streamers etc., these rainbows are cheering people up and bringing smiles to many faces.

Make a rainbow and put it in your window! As you go for walks in the neighbourhood – see how many rainbows you can find! 🌈
Send me a picture of yours! I look forward to seeing the beauty and hope you bring to your neighbourhood. Kennedy and I will be posting ours this week.
